My Silent Prayer
A Prayer for My Soldier
As I sit in my room
& talk to him-
My heart secretly forms
with fear-
”What if I never get to have him here?”
My eyes begin to fill with tears-
& I just want for him to appear…
Where was he all my life?
For a personal prison
I had been having inside-
in a matter of time-
he got me to put it all behind-
But now I’m having another battle
I’m fighting inside-
causing me not to be able to hide
from this war he’s having to fight
while we sleep at night-
He continues to make sure our
country is alright-
He’s a true soldier-
My hero-
in my eyes-
but why can’t he just come home-
So I can finally have him safe by my side…?
I don’t know what I’d do now-
if he vanished from my life-
Because even though it’s been
a short period of time-
he’s became my best friend-
& that I cannot lie-
I just can’t wait to look him in the eyes-
but as of now that just continues to be
a fantasy in my mind….
But still those visions always seem
to make me smile-
knowing in the end-
it’ll all be worthwhile-
& I hope he knows how brave he is
for being across seas-
He’s a true soldier
& has no idea how much he amazes me-
& how every night I pray before I fall 2 sleep-
”Lord, please bring him home safe to me….”

These trips down memory lane-
are really quite insane-
I wish my heart would just stop
playing these games-
That I’d quit havin’
all these doubts
& my heart would just
stop makin’ all these rounds-
Why did I have 2 take my walls down?
So now,
I have to progress life
without a sound-
These secrets deep inside
that I have found-
No one can no-
they are not allowed-
b/c my pride refuses-
it speaks 2 loud-
But I just really need 2 know now…
U let me go so easily-

Personal Prison
He looks her in the eyes
& tells her they’re gonna be alright-
that he loves her
& is 4 certain she’s the girl
destined 2 be by his side-
But what she does not know-
is the conflict he’s havin’
deep inside-
His heart is disagreein’ w/his mind-
He can’t 4get the night
he saw the other girl
4 the 1st time
in quite a long time-
causing him to really see
her true beauty inside-
He’s not so sure he should have said Good-bye…
He just really started seeing her w/ his eyes-
4 the 1st time-
He saw her in a completely different light-
It’s all messin’ w/ his mind-
what’s he suppose 2 do this time…
b/c this time he knows who she is
truly on the inside-
He just keeps waiting 4 a sign…
b/c he’s really not so sure this time-
he fears he may be livin’ a lie-
b/c another girl finally made it to his heart-
& she possibly could have from the very start-
b/c 4 sum unexplainable reason-
he always ran 2 her 4 the truth-
just knowing, 2 him, she would never be untrue-
now he’s not so sure what 2 do….
He’s so “confused….”
4 so long he’s loved his girl
& just always thought he knew-
but in the end-
Is that really gonna be the truth…?
b/c this other girl has never given him a reason
2 believe she was untrue-
he just doesn’t know what 2 do-
B/c he wants 2 be so sure his life’s path he’s chosen
is leading him the right way-
he just wants 2 hear her once again say-
those strangely comforting words from her-
”its all gonna be okay!”
But until then he keeps lyin’ secretly 2 himself-
turning to drugs 4 help-
he really just needs 2 talk to her one more time-
2 convince himself his heart is lyin’ 2 his mind-
that he really doesn’t want this other girl by his side-
when really he should take her into his arms
& see how strong these feelin’s truly are
but he’s afraid of messin’ up
& bein’ untrue-
So instead of doin’ what he’s suppose 2 do-
he continues on being untrue-
causin’ him & everyone 2 suffer
from what he’s tryin’ 2 do….
he just keeps on-
